Pool Tips

Simple Safe and Sparkling

Pooltip:

How to retrieve a water sample from your pool or spa

Information:

It sounds simple enough.  But in order for Innisfail Chemex to give you accurate recommendations on your pool or spa water, we must first start with a "good" sample of water.

Make sure the water has been circulating (pump running) for at least 10 hours.   Go to an area of the pool that is NOT in the direct flow from the return inlet.  Take a clean containter and submerge the container "elbow deep" under the surface of the water.  Fill the container to the top and cap.

Take the samle directly to Innisfail Chemex for a complete water analysis.

Do Not:

  1. Collect the sample in uncleaned containers (eg soft drink bottles, etc)
  2. Do not leave the sample in the hot car.

If you have not been to Innisfail Chemex before, take the time to record some of the critical information about your pool or spa before you go.

Approximate literage

Measure the size of the pool or spa (length and width)

Depth of the deepest area and the shallowest area

Type of pool or spa surface (eg concrete, pebblecrete, vinyl, fibreglass, etc)

Type of filter (eg. sand, diatomaceous earth or cartridge)

Type and amount of chemicals you have on hand.
